A board with rewireable fuses, no surge protection or a single RCD (residual current device) for the whole house is the most common reason to replace it. A new consumer unit gets separate circuits, surge protection and space for whatever you add later.

Installation at your home usually takes 4–8 hours, with the power off while we work. The consumer unit is built in our workshop beforehand (5–10 working days from the deposit).
Replacing the consumer unit after the meter does not need to be notified. If you are moving the meter or changing your supply capacity, it does — and we will prepare a meter board to the network operator’s requirements.
We reuse the existing cables. The number of circuits in the new consumer unit matches what is in your walls, plus spare capacity for the future.
