Home battery

Consumer unit for a home battery and backup power

A home battery needs its own section in the consumer unit and a decision on what should keep working during a power cut: selected circuits (fridge, boiler, internet) or the whole house. The configurator shows the difference in price and in the number of modules.

Sound familiar?

  • A hybrid inverter with no protection on the house side.
  • During a grid outage the battery powers nothing, because there is no changeover arrangement.
  • The solar installer won’t touch the consumer unit — “that’s the electrician’s job”.

What's in this consumer unit

  • Home battery / hybrid inverter section with an isolator.
  • Selected circuits: a separate sub-board for critical circuits, fed from the backup output.
  • Whole house: a 63 A automatic transfer switch in a separate enclosure.
  • Solar PV inverter section and DC combiner box — if the installation is new.

Frequently asked questions

Selected circuits or the whole house?

Selected backup circuits (EPS) cost less and are enough for most homes: fridge, boiler, circulation pump, router and some of the lighting. The whole house (automatic transfer switch) makes sense with a large battery and an inverter that can handle the peak load.

Will it work with my inverter?

Tell us the model in the form — we check whether it has a backup output and which protection the manufacturer recommends. We design for your specific device.

Will I get the documents for a grant application?

Yes: the wiring diagram, circuit chart, test report and EU declaration of conformity. These are the documents required when the installation is signed off.
